At Barra Oliba, we celebrate Spanish cuisine and the stories of the land behind it. Each dish and glass of wine reflects terroir, tradition, and a deep respect for the craft that connects past and future.
OUR HISTORY
Barra Oliba was born from a real desire to bring to San Diego some of the most remarkable food and wine experiences our founders enjoyed throughout the years traveling across Spain.


Co-owners Ernesto Casillas and Eduardo Bustamante dreamed up the project two years ago, over a couple of bottles of wine and a shared conviction: San Diego deserved a place that offered something truly different: real food, real wine, and real human connection in an intimate, welcoming space.
From the start, everything had to speak the same language: design, décor, music, service, and a spirit of warmth and community. The culinary program was led by Ernesto, the wine program by Eduardo, and the design by Ana, Ernesto’s wife, who had shared many of those inspiring European experiences alongside him.
Together and with the support of friends, they brought Barra Oliba to life: a place where Spanish heritage, terroir-driven wines, and genuine hospitality come together.
